Did you know that there are no flowers in Green Park because of a cheating King Charles II?
Green Park is one of eight royal parks in the capital. It was established in the 17th century during the reign of King Charles II.
Unlike the rest of London’s royal parks, it is noticeable for its lack of flowers and lakes and only having a few monuments and is mostly grass, trees and pathways – hence the name Green Park.
Legend has it the park was full of flowers in the 17th century and Charles II used to venture from nearby St James’s Palace to pick flowers for his wife Queen Catherine.
However, Charles was famously unfaithful to his wife and fathered at least 14 illegitimate children. It’s been claimed Catherine found out her husband was picking flowers for other women so ordered every flower bed to be removed from the park.
Is this true? Who knows, honestly! But which urban legends or myths from YOUR country are there? Write below, remember to include which country you're from, and practice your english with other members!

Hi,Aly :) I'm so happy to be a member of this community :) Well, I know another one about England. İt's said that the ghost of Anne Boleyn wanders in Tower of London. For the ones who don't know her. She was the second wife of Henry VIII. She was accused of cheating her husband and executed by beheading.
By the way, we have the opposite story about the park in Ukraine. There is an amazing park in Uman Town called "Sophiivka", a masterpiece of landscape art. It was built in 1796 and gifted Count Potockiy to his lovely wife Sophia. It spreads over 180 hectares and houses more than 3,000 kinds of plants (trees and bushes) as local as exotic, many artificial ponds and waterfalls. It's really great place to walk and relax. When the war stops and we get the Victory, welcome to Ukraine and visit this park and many other beautiful places here.
Glory to Ukraine!
God save the UK!
georgia has been religious for a very long time - christianity became the state religion in the fourth century as far as I know
so it’s absolutely normal that many legends, including urban legends, are of a religious nature
it seems like all georgians have a sense of uniqueness of their country, which, sometimes, they makes fun of
so my personal top one and the most ironic folk tale is the legend of the creation of georgia
this legend has many similar versions, but i’ll tell you my favorite one
a long time ago, the lord created the world and began to share its lands among the people
everyone received their lands from god, only the georgians came last and, as always, were late
god asked them why they were late, because there was no land left that he could give them
they told him that they had been toasting his health, their mothers health and much more
and they raised so many toasts, and the toasts were so long, that they didn't have a single chance to arrive on time
after that georgians invited the lord to join them
god has so good time at the georgian feast "supra” that he gave them all the land he had been saving for himself
that’s why georgia is god’s own country
That's really nice and sad legend! Poor Charles...))
